Georgian Bay

Did you know that Muskoka stretches all the way to the shores of Georgian Bay? Well, it does. And it just so happens to encompass some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Ontario.

Georgian Bay Township is not only famous for its rugged scenery, but also its rich history and cultural heritage. It was here that Canada’s famous Group of Seven painted some of their finest artwork, inspired by the region’s  rugged  shoreline and many windswept islands.

Georgian Bay Township is also home to the small communities of Port SevernHoney Harbour and Mactier, all of them popular amongst cottagers looking for an escape from the big city.

Fun things to do in Georgian Bay include paying a visit to the Trent-Severn Waterway. This Canadian Heritage site is popular among boaters for its many scenic locks, swing bridges, dams, and waterfalls. Be sure to also explore the magnificent 30,000 Islandstoo – it’s the perfect place to enjoy outdoor activities like sea-kayaking trip through the beautiful  Great Lakes archipelago. It’s also where you’ll find the engineering marvel that is the Big Chute Marine Railway.

There are also plenty of great Georgian Bay cottages for sale, too, from family compounds to luxury waterfront homes.
